Talk to your doctor before using ZOLMitriptan together with propafenone. Combining these medications may increase the blood levels and effects ZOLMitriptan. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience numbness, tingling, chest pain or tightness, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeat, as these may be signs and symptoms of excessive ZOLMitriptan levels. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSE: Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 1A2 may increase the plasma concentrations of zolmitriptan, which is a substrate of the isoenzyme. Due to limited data, the clinical consequences of this interaction are unknown.

MANAGEMENT: It is recommended that not more than 5 mg of zolmitriptan be taken in a 24-hour period during concomitant use with CYP450 1A2 inhibitors. Patients should be advised to notify their doctor promptly if they experience increased sedation, dizziness, paraesthesia, chest pain or tightness, shortness of breath, and/or irregular heartbeat.
