Quinidine and Succinylcholine Chloride
Determining the interaction of Quinidine and Succinylcholine Chloride and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using succinylcholine together with quiNIDine may increase the effects of succinylcholine. You should be closely monitored for prolong breathing cessation and respiratory paralysis after use of quiNIDine. You may need a dose adjustment or special test if you use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Quinidine may decrease plasma acetylcholinesterase activity, and succinylcholine metabolism may be decreased. The neuromuscular blocking effects of succinylcholine may be increased. Theoretically, profound neuromuscular blockade could result, including respiratory depression and arrest.
MANAGEMENT: Patients should be monitored for prolonged neuromuscular blockade.
