Raltegravir Tablets and Sustiva

Coadministration with efavirenz may reduce the plasma concentrations of raltegravir. The mechanism of interaction has not been described. In 9 study subjects administered a single 400 mg dose of raltegravir in combination with efavirenz 600 mg daily, raltegravir peak plasma concentration (Cmax), systemic exposure (AUC) and trough plasma concentration (Cmin) decreased by 36%, 36% and 21%, respectively, compared to administration of raltegravir alone. These changes were statistically, but not clinically, significant. Raltegravir and efavirenz may be coadministered without any dosage adjustments.
