Case reports have suggested that the concomitant use of zidovudine and acetaminophen may potentiate the risk of bone marrow suppression and hepatotoxicity; however data have been conflicting. The mechanism is unknown. Until more information is available, patients taking both drugs concurrently should be monitored for the development of hepatotoxicity and bone marrow toxicity.
