Consumer:

Using rifAMPin together with doxycycline may decrease the effects of doxycycline. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or if your infection worsens. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Rifamycins may decrease the therapeutic effect of doxycycline. Increased hepatic metabolism of doxycycline by the rifamycin may lead to a decreased serum concentration and half-life of doxycycline.

MANAGEMENT: Monitor the patient for decreased clinical effect and increase the dose of doxycycline if needed.
