Determining the interaction of Rifampin and Riluzole Suspension and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Rifampin may decrease the serum concentration of riluzole. Riluzole is metabolized by the isoenzyme CYP450 1A2. Rifampin may induce this particular isoenzyme, possibly increasing the riluzole elimination rate. The clinical significance of this interaction is not known. During coadministration, the patient should be more closely monitored for altered clinical effect. Rifabutin may interact with riluzole in a similar manner.
