Consumer:

Tipranavir may increase the blood levels and effects of rilpivirine. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience increased side effects. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Concomitant use of rilpivirine with tipranavir/ritonavir has not been studied. Theoretically, tipranavir/ritonavir may increase the plasma concentrations of rilpivirine by inhibiting its metabolism via CYP450 3A4. Rilpivirine is not expected to alter the plasma concentrations of tipranavir or ritonavir.

MANAGEMENT: No dosage recommendations are available for use of rilpivirine in combination with tipranavir/ritonavir, but monitoring for potentially increased adverse effects of rilpivirine such as depression, hepatotoxicity, and prolongation of the QT interval may be advisable.
