Consumer:

RomiDEPsin may reduce the effectiveness of ethinyl estradiol. If you are using ethinyl estradiol for birth control, you may be at increased risk for pregnancy or breakthrough bleeding. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

ADDITIONAL CONTRACEPTION RECOMMENDED: Romidepsin may reduce the effectiveness of estrogen-containing contraceptives. The proposed mechanism is competition by romidepsin for binding to estrogen receptors, which has been demonstrated in vitro.

MANAGEMENT: Estrogen-containing contraceptives, including oral, injectable, transdermal, and implantable forms, may not be reliable during concomitant therapy with romidepsin. Female patients of childbearing potential should consider using an additional method of contraception if possible. Input from a gynecologist or similar expert on adequate contraception should be sought as needed.
