Relevance: 16.02.2023 Reviewer: Shkutko P.M., M.D., in

A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.

Consumer:

Secobarbital may reduce the blood levels of osimertinib, which may make the medication less effective in some cases. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Coadministration with inducers of CYP450 3A4 may decrease the plasma concentrations of osimertinib, which has been shown in vitro to be primarily metabolized by the isoenzyme. Reduced therapeutic efficacy of osimertinib may occur. However, no pharmacokinetic data are available from drug interaction studies.

MANAGEMENT: The potential for diminished pharmacologic effects of osimertinib should be considered during coadministration with CYP450 3A4 inducers. Alternative treatments may be required if an interaction is suspected.
