Seldane and Sustiva
Determining the interaction of Seldane and Sustiva and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Astemizole and terfenadine are no longer on the market in the US. Do not take astemizole or terfenadine with any other medication.
Professional:CONTRAINDICATED: Efavirenz inhibits the CYP450 3A4 enzyme and may interfere with the metabolism of astemizole and terfenadine. The accumulation of astemizole or terfenadine may prolong the QT interval and possibly may lead to the development of ventricular arrhythmias, including torsades de pointes.
MANAGEMENT: An alternative antihistamine should be considered for patients being treated with efavirenz.
