Consumer:Using sevelamer together with levothyroxine may decrease the effects of levothyroxine. Contact your doctor if you experience tiredness sluggishness, weakness, memory problems, depression, difficulty concentrating, and constipation. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: The coadministration of sevelamer and levothyroxine may increase levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Very rare cases of increased (TSH) levels were reported during postmarketing experience in patients receiving both medications. The mechanism has not been reported.
MANAGEMENT: It is recommended that TSH levels should be monitored more closely during concomitant use.
