A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.

Consumer:

Vaccinia immune globulin may interfere with the immune response to zoster vaccine live. A person who has been treated with vaccinia immune globulin should generally not be vaccinated with zoster vaccine live for about 6 months. If vaccination was given shortly before or after vaccinia immune globulin, a revaccination may be necessary. The immunizing doctor should be informed of recent therapy with vaccinia immune globulin so that appropriate measures and/or precautions can be taken. It is important to tell the doctor about all other medications being used, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to the doctor.

Professional:

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: The passive transfer of antibodies present in immune globulin preparations may interfere with the immune response to live vaccines.

MANAGEMENT: Immunization with live vaccines should be deferred until approximately 6 months after administration of vaccinia immune globulin intravenous (VIGIV). If such vaccinations are given shortly before or after VIGIV therapy, a revaccination may be necessary. An additional dose of live measles, mumps, or rubella vaccine is usually not needed if the vaccine was administered at least two weeks prior to immune globulin administration.
