Vinblastine and Vincristine
Determining the interaction of Vinblastine and Vincristine and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:An in vitro test has shown vincristine to have inhibitory effects on the biotransformation of vinblastine. Similarly, it is likely that vinblastine would inhibit the biotransformation of vincristine. Both drugs are believed to be metabolized by the liver cytochrome P-450. These drugs may also have many overlapping side effects. The clinical significance of this interaction has not been established. If vincristine and vinblastine are used concomitantly, caution and close observation are advised.
