Zonegran and Zykadia
Determining the interaction of Zonegran and Zykadia and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this interaction is not currently available.MONITOR: Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 3A4 may increase the plasma concentrations of zonisamide, which is metabolized by the isoenzyme. While clinical data are lacking, the possibility of prolonged and/or increased pharmacologic effects of zonisamide should be considered. MANAGEMENT: Dosage adjustments as well as clinical and laboratory monitoring may be appropriate whenever a CYP450 3A4 inhibitor is added to or withdrawn from therapy. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience symptoms such as severe drowsiness, confusion, loss of coordination, depression, aphasia, decreased sweating, fever, loss of seizure control, or slow pulse.
